What Does The Drain Plug Do On the Bottom

Fuel Bowl Drain Plug On versions without the adjustable needle, the fitting is simply a Drain Plug (or Drain Boss). Purpose: Because the 267 is an updraft carburetor, gasoline condensation can accumulate in the intake manifold and drain back into the carb. The drain at the bottom allows you to clear out this accumulated fuel or any water/debris that has settled at the bottom of the bowl. Service Tip: Be careful not to overtighten this. The threads in the die-cast bowl are notorious for stripping, which is why some guys end up having to tap them out to a larger 1/2-20 size.
