Early Fuel Evaporation EFE Heater Gaskets
The E.F.E., or Early Fuel Evaporator, also known as Electronic Fuel Evaporator, or Carburetor Heat Insulator. It is actually more than just a gasket. Located between the carburetor and intake manifold, this part includes a resistance grid that heats the air fuel mixture and helps vaporize in cold conditions. Starting in 1981 on GM products to reduce emissions.
A bad E.F.E. may cause:
• Poor drivability
• Poor mileage
• Possible failure to turn off after reaching operating temperature.
