This Zenith carb model is a two-stage carburetor use by Mercedes in type 220Sb starting in 1964 and 250/8s from 1972. Its name is from its throttle valve sizes; stage 1 valves are 35mm in diameter, stage 2 valves are 40mm.

The carb is made up of four main parts:

Carburetor cover (choke plate, idling speed air hole, transition air hole)
Plate block (all jets, accelerator pump, float, float chamber venting valve)
Float housing (mixing chamber, stage 1 & stage 2 venturi)
Throttle body (throttle valves, idle mixture screws, bypass bores)
