Description

The TPS is typically located on the throttle body and is used to measure the angle of the throttle plate. In 1982-1986 vehicles, the TPS is used by the engine control unit (ECU) to determine the amount of air entering the engine, which is used to calculate the appropriate fuel injection and ignition timing. The TPS sends a signal to the ECU that is proportional to the throttle position, and the ECU uses this signal to adjust the engine's performance accordingly.
