Holley 740 Float Level
  • Remove the air horn.
  • Place the air horn assembly upside down on the work bench.
  • Hold the float hinge end at a 45 degree angle of the work bench.
  • Measure between the end of the float and the air horn.
  • Remove the float if it needs adjustment. Don't put any pressure on the float valve. It can cause the carburetor to flood.
Holley 740 Float Adjustment
  • Hold metal arm near float pontoon and bend the tab to change adjustment.
  • Be careful not to bend pontoons as they can break away from the frame.
  • Measure both pontoons to make sure they are at the same height. You can adjust the pontoon without the tab by bending the arm. Just don't bend where the pontoon meets the arm.

  • Hold the carburetor top in an upright position and let the float hang.
  • Measure from the carburetor air horn surface down to the bottom of the pontoon.
