Fuel pressure with key on, engine off. 1997 and older: 38-44 psi, 1998-2002: 44-50 psi.
The fuel system is not depressurized.
Relieving fuel pressure is an important step to take before performing any maintenance or repairs on a fuel system. Fuel systems are pressurized, and if you open a fuel line without first relieving the pressure, it can cause fuel to spray out, which is a safety hazard.
Remove the gas cap in order to relieve any pressure in the gas tank.
1997 & earlier models - remove the radio and cup holder for access to the circuit opening relay.
1998-2002 - Locate the circuit opening relay under the left side of the instrument panel, above the kick panel.
Unplug the electrical connector from the relay (1997 & earlier), or remove the relay from the panel (1998-2002)
Crank the engine. If it starts it should immediately stall. Crank for 4 seconds, then turn the key off.
The fuel system is not depressurized.
