Note: We assume the engine and emission control system is operating properly before troubleshooting the carburetor.

Make sure these things are done properly:
  • carburetor to manifold nuts should be tight
  • intake manifold to cylinder head mounting nuts should be tight
  • air horn to main body mounting screws should be tight. Loose screws may permit air leaks
  • fuel lines free of clogs, crimps, or fittings loose or damaged
  • fuel strainger free of clogs
  • carburetor float level properly adjusted
  • idle speed and mixture adjusted properly
