The choke housing must be installed (Does not convert manual chokes)

Due to technical reasons, electric choke kits are matched using the engine application. It is assumed that the carburetor, intake manifold and engine are original to the vehicle.

Examples of miss match:

Carburetor has been switched out.

The carburetor has been re-manufactured.

A performance intake manifold has been installed. This is OK if the manifold is a direct replacement.

Spacers have been added to the carburetor base - Divorced chokes only.

APPLICATIONS:

You must match your carburetor number to get the correct part.

Electric choke on a 1969 Firebird

We are running a 1972 455 Pontiac intake with a 1969 Quadrajet. The chokes mount differently to the intake, so a divorced choke from either year wouldn't work. I ordered the electric choke for a 1969 carb and drilled a hole in it's base to match the intake. The electric choke now functions well and allows us to have a choke even with the heat crossover blocked. Nice product.

Electric choke conversion

I purchased this electric choke conversion kit for my 1969 GTO. The car has the original original 400 engine with all the original parts and quadrajet carburetor. This conversion was easy to do and works perfectly. I highly recommend this kit if you’re looking to do a conversion.

Its a good product product except the push nut is not included.

I bought the 1969 kit and knew I would have to make some modifications because I have a 1972 Pontiac HO intake with no crossover. The head crossover port is filled. The mounting of the choke is to a custom alum plate made to accept the standard choke, which didn't work due to filled heads. After some tinkering I got it all to work. The choke rod to the carb needs some sort of retainer so I cut some grooves into the rod and placed a spring type clip which is typical to those years carb rod attachments. The car started right up but after nearly 10 minutes and the engine hot the choke still was engaged, even with the housing turned all the way to the left marking. The tension needs to be gone after the motor heats up. Not sure if the housing can turn more to the left but I will try when it's cold again. I want this to work.
