electric choke

I installed this kit on a 1975 Jeep J20, 360 V8, 4350 Motorcraft carb. The engine has a blocked exhaust crossover, rendering the original choke in-operative. The choke coil and housing fit well, using the supplied gasket along with the original gasket, so the clamping ring could hold the housing tightly to the carb. The choke operation was excellent. The choke closed fully when cold, and opened fully at the proper rate. Although the instructions don't call for it, I did install this kit on a relay system. I triggered the relay off of the alternator and took the power for the choke off the starter solenoid and through an inline fuse. I think this provides more current for the choke, but I am certain it would work adequately without the relay. I couldn't be happier with this product and the great customer service provided by Mike's Carburetor Parts.

This worked great for a replacement of the exhaust tube heated choke on my 1977 F350 460 with a 4350 carb. I recommend buying a retainer ring as well, as in my case there was a slight variance in the shoulder thickness. I hooked mine up to the stator wire, so I am still evaluating if the stator will be enough voltage to open it quick enough, but the choke kit works great, and solved a real problem.
