REPLACEMENT FLOAT
Here is a video for adjusting the Mercarb float:
FLOAT ADJUSTMENT
Mercarb Float Adjustment
  • Bowl gasket in place.
  • Plastic float - measure distance from gasket tolip of free end of float.
  • Brass float - measure distance from gasket to sharp edge of float seam at free end.
  • We set the float to be level, which works great for us.
Mercarb Float Drop Adjust

FLOAT DROP ADJUSTMENT
With float hanging freely, measure from gasket surface to lip of plastic float, or bottom of metal float.
Check the float drop to make sure the needle doesn't fall out, or gets stuck to the side.

ADJUSTMENT BY NEEDLE AND SEAT STYLE
Float Level Setting - Our carburetor kit includes 2 different types of needle & seats. One is spring loaded and the other is the solid type. The spring loaded type of needle & seat is the preferred type, especially if you are having a flooding problem at idle. The trade off is that you may have a lean out (fuel starving) on sharp turns. Make your decision based on how you use your boat.
NEEDLE & SEAT TYPE
FLOAT LEVEL
FLOAT DROP
2 piece solid needle & seat
3/8"
10 mm
1 3/32" 27 mm
spring loaded needle & seat
9/16" 14 mm
1 3/32" 27 mm

FLOAT BAFFLE
The baffle is necessary for the carb to run at 100%, but you can go without it. We don't have replacements, and haven't seen any on the market.

2 Types of Needle & Seats

Mercarb Needle & Seat
Most cases require the (a) spring loaded needle & seat. If you have trouble on sharp turns, change to the solid type.
