Autolite 2100 4100 Carburetor Choke Thermostat

First off, not upset in any way with this purchase. I'm tossing this one up whoever worked this car that I bought to restore. I have a '64 Tbird, and I though this cap would work on my 4100, at least I thought it would. What I experienced: Spring is mounted on a plastic stem on the cap, this stem sticks out too far to allow proper clearance of choke housing inner workings. I had to modify cap and remove some of the stem for clearance. I found the cap to be just too short with a new retaining bracket i bought. Not sure if a gasket should be inbetween the cap and housing. Once I found a gasket that worked, cap seemed to be working fine with modifications. After that, i am starting to think this carb is repaired with parts that might not have been from the 4100 or from a older year? just in case, I found a replacement spring that I can insert into the old cap that came with the car which I might do if i have more choke issues. FAST delivery and processing, parts were packed very nicely and I would use this site 100% again. A rebuild kit is in my future.

Installed easily and as designed. Improved function of choke through the transition period from cold engine to hot. Unfortunately, did not solve "the first start in the morning" sticking problem. I'd hoped that changing out a 50+ year old spring would do the trick.

The choke thermostat is exactly the part I needed and it works great.

The original spring had a loop on its end that attached to the tine on the choke. This flat end did not work. I had to make a loop to connect it properly. Seems to work OK, but I ordered another unit with the proper loop from another supplier.
