Disassembly of the 4G Governor
Don't forget to take plenty of photos.

Throttle Lever and Bearing Assembly

Remove the throttle lever and bearing assembly by taking out the (4) attaching screws and lockwashers.

Pull outward on the lever assembly and remove the gasket.

Governor Housing Side Plate

Break the wire seal (if used) and remove the (4) attaching screws holding the governor housing side plate.

Carefully remove the side plate.

Governor Diaphragm
-
Remove the (10) diaphragm cover attaching screws.
-
Take off the diaphragm cover to expose the diaphragm.

Diaphragm Plunger Rod
-
Disconnect the diaphragm plunger rod from the governor lever by removing the clip at the rod’s end.

Pull the governor diaphragm out of the housing.

Governor Spring
-
Remove the governor spring by sliding it off both the stationary pin and the pin on the governor lever.

Throttle Shaft Levers
-
Take off the (2) 11/32" nuts and lockwashers on the ends of the primary and secondary throttle shafts.

Remove the secondary throttle lever and closing spring (note their orientation for reassembly).

Governor Lever and Link Assembly
-
Remove the governor lever, link, and secondary valve actuating lever as a complete assembly .

Notes

Keep track of spring orientation, lever positions, and link assembly arrangement, as these will be critical during reassembly.

The manual emphasizes cleaning thoroughly after disassembly but avoiding harsh solvents on rubber, leather, or diaphragm components.
