Holley Carburetor Needle & Seat NS594

I bought this fuel inlet assembly as a backup part for the Holley 2280 carburetor on my 1967 Plymouth. It appears to be identical to the part that came in a Holley carb rebuilt kit I bought a 2 years ago. I've had trouble this year with the Holley part. The black plastic needle retainer was coming loose and preventing the floats from closing the needle valve, leading to severe flooding. I found that the black plastic cap can be removed and there is no risk of the needle falling out of or hanging up in the inlet assembly. Car run just fine without the black plastic cap, so my conclusion is that the plastic cap is only needed to retain the needle in the inlet assembly until the carb rebuilder is ready to install the assembly. The original inlet assembly from Holley had a metal cap retaining the needle, so I'm not surprised people leave the plastic cap on the replacement assembly when rebuilding. I recommend against doing that.

Just like what you get in the Hygrade kit. Sometimes when a carburetor floods over when you park it this is the problem. In my case, like the first reviewer, I had the one that came with my Hygrade kit I bought at the local part store fall apart and jam my floats, leaving me on the side of the road. I've used dozens of these Hygrade kits and that is the first time it has happened to me. This saved me from having to buy a whole other kit.
