Carter AFB, Edelbrock 4 barrel metering rod. Two step metering rod.

Price includes ONE metering rod you may need two, order accordingly. The AFB carburetor requires two rods per carburetor. These are also referred to as a step up rod.

These are 2 step metering rods used generally on 1968 and later.

There are two types of primary main metering rods used in the Quadrajet carburetors. 1968 models use a rod which has a double taper at the metering tip. The 1967 and earlier models have a single taper at the metering tip.

Both type rods use a similar two-digit numbering system. The number indicates the diameter of the metering rod and is the last two digits of the part number. The 1968 models with the double taper will have "B" stamped on the rod after the two-digit number.

old -school mechanic

Finding Mike's carb parts has been absolutely fantastic. The rod/jet/spring kits supplied by Edelbrock for the AFB (Edelbrock) carburetor are good, but the selection leaves gaps in the available mixture options when fine-tuning for the sweet spot of economy and power. Not only does Mike's have a much wider selection of rods/jets, they can be purchased individually for a very low price! The parts are always genuine, and fit and perform as engineered. All you serious carb tuners out there, pass the word: Mike's has what you need to tweak your carburetor to perfection. My 35 year old F-150 with a 300 I-6 will now burn rubber from a stop, and cruise the highway at 20 mpg. Thanks Mike!

Fast Fast Fast

I made the mistake of directly contacting Edelbrock for these, nearly 2weeks later after they charged my card, no contact. Cancelled and ordered with Mikes! Had parts in 3 days! He’s on it! Fast Fast Fast!

Converted my Carter AVS 4401 to AFB jets and rods

I converted my Carter AVS over to AFB jets and metering rods. Running much better and get my A/F Ratio right where I went it and Spark Plugs look cleaner, they are tan colour

Just what I needed

Bought a set of metering rods for the carb on a 1964 Imperial Crown. My buddy could never get it tuned right and it had always ran way too rich. After confirming it was in fact the metering rods, I ordered the closest available set. They worked perfectly and now that Imperial runs like the day it was made! This is a quality built metering rod and will definitely order again if I run into serious metering rod troubles. Jacob

AVS

I have a AVS carb on my 440 with a moderate cam. Had a surge at cruise indicating a lean mixture. My metering rods are a 3 step but only 2 step was available, so I thought I would try them. They seem to work ok on the test drive. At this time I am pleased with them.

Metering rods

Worked perfectly for my dual quad 394 Olds with two Carter AFB carbs. Still a bit rich so I ordered some more to get it just right. ????
