New Autolite 4100 dashpot. This is a retro fit dashpot and you will have to cut some of the stem off to make it fit.

What is the dashpot used for?

Upon deceleration of the vehicle, the throttle plates of the carburetor will assume a closed position, and closed throttle plates will not allow a proper air-fuel mixture; therefore, rich fuel will pour into the combustion chambers. The rich fuel will not be completely burned. Incomplete burning of the fuel will cause a high hydro-carbon and carbon monoxide emission. The dashpot is actually a decelerating delaying device. It delays the closing of the throttle plates, thus allowing a proper air-fuel mixture for a more complete combustion process.
